Film Review 5: What To Expect When You're Expecting:

'What To Expect When You're Expecting' is a film Directed by Kirk Jones - following 5 couples all of which are expecting a baby, however, all in different scenarios. The first couple is photographer Holly and composer Alex, played by Jennifer Lopez and Rodrigo Santoro. After being married in Las Vegas, the couple are content, yet Holly wants to move to the next step of having a baby, however, she is unable to conceive, therefore, the couple decide to adopt a baby from Ethiopia. The next couple is Jules and Evan played by Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison. After TV fitness trainer Jules stars on 'Dancing with the stars'  with Matthew as her dance partner, the couple soon find out that they're expecting a baby together. The third couple are Wendy - a breast-feeding boutique owner, played by Elizabeth Banks, and Gary a dentist - played by Ben Falcone, whom of which have been trying to conceive a baby for over 2 years, the couple have been so strict on their schedule and making sure to eat, do and act the right way to help their fertility, finally their work pays off and they find out they're having a baby. The next couple is Skylar and her much older, famous race car driver Ramsey, played by Brooklyn Decker and Dennis Quaid. The couple are actually Gary's father and stepmother and throughout his life him and his father have always been competitive with everything, his father constantly having to one up his son. Therefore, on the day that Wendy and Gary announce to their folks that they're expecting, Ramsey and Skylar also announce that they're not having just one baby, but twins. Finally, the last couple is Rosie and Marco, a couple who both own food trucks and who also have known eachother since High school. However, have never properly dated due to Marco being somewhat popular with other girls. After a one night stand the couple find out that they're pregnant and are in a dilemma as to what to do, however they decide to be together and to have the baby together.  The film shows the twists and turns of expecting a baby and also the different scenarios of how to have a baby, unexpected, unplanned, planned, adoption, twins etc. It also highlights the sad issues that can come as well, for example, arguing, religious decisions, not being ready, the loss of a baby through a miscarriage etc. Personally I really enjoyed this film as it's very light hearted and funny and I liked that it included so many different approaches to having a baby. Would rate it a 9/10.
