Film Review 4: Daddy's Home

Daddy's Home is a family comedy starring Will Ferrell - Brad who is a soft, understanding, mannered stepfather who since marrying his wife Sara - who is played by Linda Cardeillni, Brad is constantly trying to receive the approval and love from his two step children - Megan and Dylan. After a long period of time, Brad finally earns the reciprocated love he has desired for so long. However, right as he is has finally had the approval he wanted, Megan and Dylan's birth dad - Dusty who is played by Mark Wahlberg, - a reckless, absent and unmannered man, reaches out to say that he's coming to see them and stay with them. Throughout the film, Dusty constantly one ups Brad and then half way through the film they decide to have a father war on who can be a better dad. Despite Brad's attempts to shower Megan and Dylan with presents, love and giving in to everything they demand, still they choose Dusty to have as their dad. Brad's plan backfires and leaves him kicked out of the house and on bad terms with both the kids and his wife Sara. In spite of Dusty making it as the children's dad, he soon realises that he is not up for the roles that being a dad intels and bails on the kids and his duty as a father. In the end. Brad and Dusty team up together and sort their differences as they share the responsibility for the kids and restore the family dynamic. Overall i'd give this film a 7/10, I liked the comedy aspect and found it to be a comforting film.
